Every LeBron signature shoe — Nike LeBron line

Every LeBron signature shoe in order: Air Zoom Generation through LeBron 21. Plus the Witness budget line and Soldier line.

The LeBron line — overview

LeBron James signed with Nike in 2003 (right out of high school) for $90 million over seven years — at the time, the largest endorsement deal ever for a non-Michael Jordan athlete. The line started with the Air Zoom Generation (2003) and continues through LeBron 21 (2024). 21 numbered signatures, plus Witness and Soldier sub-lines.

Air Zoom Generation (2003) — LeBron 1

First LeBron shoe. Mid-cut, full-length Zoom Air. The ‘First Game’ colorway is the most-coveted retro candidate in the line.

LeBron 2-4 (2004-2006)

Mid-cuts with full-length Zoom. The LeBron 4 was particularly highly regarded for cushioning depth.

LeBron 5-7 (2007-2009)

Transition era. Air Max-cushioning experiments. The LeBron 7 (2009) is widely considered the most-loved of his early career.

LeBron 8 (2010) — first South Beach colorway

South Beach colorway. Released around LeBron’s move to Miami. Iconic colorway, retro candidate.

LeBron 9-12 (2011-2014)

Heat-era flagship cushioning. LeBron 11 introduced Hyperposite construction. LeBron 12 was widely panned for fit but cushioning was strong.

LeBron 13-15 (2015-2017)

Cleveland-return era. LeBron 15 (2017) brought full Battleknit upper. The ‘Equality’ colorway is iconic.

LeBron 16-19 (2018-2021)

Lakers-era. Air Max units returned in the 16. LeBron 17 and 18 were all-around flagships. Cushioning evolved through Air Max + Cushlon variants.

LeBron 20 (2022)

First-ever low-cut LeBron numbered signature. Mid-cushioned, lighter than all prior LeBrons. Mixed reception.

LeBron 21 (2024)

Mid-cut return. Cushlon 3.0 + Zoom Air. Wing/forward priority. Currently the flagship of the line.

The Witness line

Budget LeBrons running parallel to the numbered flagship. Phylon midsole + Zoom Air. Witness 9 currently retails sub-$130. Indoor-and-outdoor rated.

The Soldier line

Mid-cut, structured-strap LeBrons in production from 2007-2020. Discontinued. Notable Soldier 13 was widely worn by NBA centers (not LeBron) for impact protection.

How to think about retros

The LeBron line is performance-led, not collectables-led. Retros happen but are less central to the line than they are to Air Jordan. The early Air Zoom Generation, LeBron 4, and early-Lakers-era 16 are the retros most likely to release in the next 24 months.
