Jordan Brand’s lineup splits clearly into performance flagships (AJ37, AJ38, AJ39, AJ40, plus the Luka, Tatum and Zion signature lines) and retro/lifestyle (AJ1 retro, AJ3 retro, etc). For actual basketball play, look at the performance side first.
AJ39 and AJ40 — the modern flagships

AJ37 Low and AJ38 Low

If you want a retro that hoops
Most retros (AJ1 high, AJ3, AJ4, AJ5, AJ11) are technically still court-viable but use 1980s-90s cushioning that has been long surpassed. Wear them because you love them, not because they perform like a modern flagship.
